From our original storefront on Rt. 47 in Hotchkissville, New Morning Market has been stocking local products on our shelves. We offered maple syrup, honey, cream-line yogurt, butter, raw milk, and eggs – all sought out from nearby Connecticut producers as part of our mission to create a market for responsible local farming.
We’ve been forging long-lasting partnerships with responsible farms for decades. In fact, New Morning Market has been the first retail outlet for many, including Arethusa Farm, Riverbank Farm, and Walden Hill. By actively creating a market for their products, we are helping local producers to succeed and grow.
In season, our produce department leans on local – selecting a diverse array of vegetables and fruits at peak freshness from our network of organic farmers. Greens galore in the early spring steadily make way for crisp radishes, sweet peas, hothouse tomatoes, and tender young onions. Before you know it, summer and fall abundance take over! Year-round we stock locally produced and artisan-made items such as fresh bread, small-batch jam, pasture-raised meats, eggs, and milk, lacto-fermented foods, and pies (these are hand-delivered from just across the parking lot!).
In choosing local, we’re supporting our neighbors, protecting working agricultural land within our community, and offering some of the highest quality food available. Join us for a taste of the season with a special Local Indulgence Night on Wednesday, August 8th and check our Classes & Events calendar for seasonal cooking and preserving workshops.
