Wine and Cheese Event 2005
New Morning celebrated our more than 30 years in Woodbury and our upcoming move to North Woodbury in 2006 with a wine and cheese tasting party on November 10th. The party was held in the art gallery of the Woodbury Public Library. It was a great success and delicious fun for the more than 200 people who attended!
Hilary Hopkins from Hopkins Vineyard www.hopkinsvineyard.com and Mary Kay from Organic Vintages www.organicvintages.com served healthy and delicious organic and low sulfite wines. Jody Fagerquist sampled two Connecticut cheeses: smooth chevres from the goats at Beltane Farm, and Pleasant Cow, an aged, creamy cheese from the Jersey cows of Beaver Brook Farm, as well as delicious cheeses from France and Italy. Jody is responsible for stocking New Morning with some of the finest cheeses from around the world including local artisinal.
In addition to great wines and cheeses New Morning’s own Carol Byer Alcorace sampled some crowd pleasing savory offerings from the Provender-New Morning’s catering and food to go department. The party was also enhanced with savory crusty wholegrain breads from the Bantam Bread Company and hot and fair-traded beverages from Coffee, Tea, Etc. of Goshen, CT, www.coffee-tea-etc.com
Our ‘tasting’ party turned out to be a pleasurable experience for eyes and ears as well as palettes. While everyone’s taste buds were enjoying the many delicious samplings, all eyes were focused on a continuous slide presentation of New Morning’s history in Woodbury covering more than 30 years in three different locations. Auditorily participants were serenaded by the music of Kevin Makarewicz playing Cello and flute, Robert Weinstein’s guitar, and the drumming of a friend who turned it into a trio at the last minute. The happy blend of good food, wine, music and company will be remembered for a long time!

Thanks to all of you, the New Morning Survey was a great success. Over 100 people were kind enough to complete it for us.
Each person who completed the study was also entered into a drawing for one of five New Morning tote bags. Those winners have been notified by email. If you didn't win, please accept our thanks for helping out.
