Welcome to my newsletter for July, 2010. I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful summer weather. Recently, New Morning President and owner John Pittari and I had the opportunity to appear on a Statewide TV Show—“The Hour with Jim Pellegrino.” Catch us on the internet: www.ccsu.edu/thehour or on one of the following channels:
• Nutmeg Shown Friday’s at 7:00pm on Comcast Channel 95. Seen in Avon, Berlin, Bristol, Burlington, Canton, Farmington, Plainville and New Britain.
• ATT U-Verse Channel 99. Shown statewide, Friday's @ 7:00pm.
Saturday’s Herbal Preparations 101 & Weed Walk class was a huge success! Despite the forecasted rain, twenty-five of us strolled through New Morning’s back parking lot and searched for useful weeds. We found wild carrot, elderberry, soapwort, English plantain, common mullein, mugwort, yarrow, jewelweed, poke root, curled dock, lamb’s quarters, red clover, sorrel and much more! Back in the classroom, participants had the opportunity to meet more plants up close and learned how to make medicinal infusions, decoctions, syrups, herbal extracts, liniments, salves, infused oils and poultices. Many thanks to all who took part in this fun-filled event!
In response to the demand for more herbal medicine classes, I am currently putting together a proposal for an ongoing monthly “Herbal Study Group & Mentoring Program,” to be held at New Morning starting in January, 2011. If you are interested in having me facilitate a program of this sort, please contact me at alisonb@newmorn.com or call 203-263-0673, Extension 355. Each class will be limited to 20 participants and will involve a small fee.
Take time this month to take care of yourself. Join me in a whole body detoxification program or make an appointment for a nutritional consultation – you’ll be glad you did! Call 203-263-0673, Extension 355
