Vegan Indulgence Night - Only at New Morning

New Morning shoppers were treated to a casual evening of vegan cuisine, organic wine and great company on Vegan Indulgence Night. It was the second in an ongoing series of FREE, informal gatherings at the Store for people to stop by, sample and learn about new or interesting food trends. Many people have heard about “going vegan,” some with family members who’ve decided not to eat meat or those with diet restrictions.

Of course, it was hard to pass by the free chair massages offered by two Natural Balance staff members, one of whom, Kris, is also a New Morning employee. A steady line of visitors continued throughout the evening, under the tents, and in the store, and all ages too- children and grown-ups from twenty to sixty somethings.

Once inside, there were lots of things to taste around every corner, and New Morning staff was hustling to keep platters full. Chef Carol and The Provender tempted people with an awesome vegan Madras Mayhem Bombay and a fabulous display of crunchy crudités with vegan creamy tofu herb dip. Pam Dunn from Boxed Goodes of Litchfield sampled her hot and tasty "Sunny Dahl" and "Basmati Rice Blend." Amy’s Vegan pizzas went quickly as did the Probars and super foods from Navita’s. Dairy challenged? If you missed it, you owe it to yourself to try the incredible edible cheese alternatives like, We Can’t Say it’s Cheese and Diaya Vegan cheese, that shreds and melts just like the real thing.

Mary Kay from Organic Vintages was on hand to sample her wonderful vegan wines. If you saved room for dessert, you probably indulged in the Flour Garden’s sinful chocolate cake, and Amy’s vegan chocolate cake (found in the freezer section) and chocolate fudge Tempt non-dairy frozen dessert.

Bottom line, vegan tastes great, and you can feel good about it too! Our friends from NW CT Vegan Outreach were on hand to share materials and discuss some reasons why people are going vegan, including the humane treatment of animals. Some of the very wonderful cosmetic brands, including Aubrey Organics and Himalaya Herbal Healthcare, boast pure and healthy ingredients, never tested on animals. Mary M. Kane-Donofrio of Bethlehem won a free raffle of two tickets to the Lilith Fair at the Comcast theater in August, courtesy of To-Go Ware.

Stay tuned for the next Indulgence Night, coming in October…It will be an evening dedicated to exploring gluten-free in all its glory. Mark your calendar, bring your friends –who ever knew learning new things could be so fun and tasty too!
