Donating one digital camera can save hundreds of lives! Without a photo animals have no chance of getting out alive.
Camera Drive to Save Lives Huge Success!!
New Morning was proud to sponsor a camera drive to provide digital cameras to high kill shelters in the south. Shelters (or volunteers) take photographs of animals at risk and distribute the photographs where rescues and potential adopters can see them. New Morning teamed up with S.T.I.C.K.S. (Supplying Technology in County Kill Shelters) to collect cameras so that S.T.I.C.K.S. could distribute them to rural high kill shelters and volunteers. And in true New Morning customer style, customers came out in full force to support this amazing cause. We collected 24 beautiful cameras along with extra memory cards, and batteries that went above and beyond thoughtful, and we were able to raise $300 in donations! Many thanks to the continued generosity and support that the Greater Woodbury community has shown through this camera drive!
Read a Letter from S.T.I.C.K.S. volunteer:
Hi Pat!
The cameras arrived today....in great shape!! Just in time..I had another shelter who emailed me that they are using a cell phone to take photos. The pics are a mess and then they post them on petfinder that way.
I hope you know that these cameras and all your hard work will save thousands of lives over the next year. You are wonderful and even sent me the envelopes to send receipts. That is so thoughtful. Almost no one realizes how much things like sending addressed envelopes are appreciated. We try to help so many...and all the paperwork associated with dealing in many states etc..and working a full time pay job..so much gets behind. I appreciate EVERYTHING you (and your customers) have done for these animals. It speaks volumes about the person YOU are. I am thankful and renewed by your efforts, kindness, creativity to help the animals. Its a joy...and I mean that a joy to meet you. Warmest Regards,

What our camera drive was about:
For most rescuers it starts with a photo. The look of a face that you feel compelled to do Pat sent many emails and made many phone calls compelled to help Miya find a home. Finally with a collaborative effort up the East Coast, 15 rescue volunteers formed a relay from Georgia to Connecticut: complete strangers meeting each other on the side of the road, or in parking lots, each driving an hour or so, each passing Miya off to the next. After 5 weeks of being in a cage, Pat’s skinny little frightened girl made it into her arms! She was so happy and so beautiful! Miya has now been adopted by a great couple. Her family adores her (left) and she adores them. Miya made it!
What YOU can do... It's the photo that drives the rescuer to go to lengths that sometimes seem insurmountable. Without a photo animals have little to no chance of getting out of these places alive. With the current economy most of these poor rural shelters are struggling to keep food and vaccines on hand. Please bring your new or used (in good working condition) digital camera, memory cards, USB cables, rechargeable batteries and chargers to New Morning during the month of January. New Morning will be working with S.T.I.C.K.S. (Supplying Technology in County Kill Shelters) to distribute the cameras to rural high kill shelters and volunteers. Only good working cameras please. It's a win-win for everyone. The donor of the technology equipment is able to take a tax deduction (as defined by IRS Laws) on their taxes. A receipt will be issued for all used cameras only if they are working. We will be accepting monetary donations as well. Donations will be used to purchase batteries, chargers and memory cards needed for donated cameras and new cameras will be purchased if we have any leftover contributions. Please go www.sticksorg.com or contact Pat Rector at New Morning, 203-263-4868.
New Morning mascot "Millie" (top) was spotted by Jane Pittari through Friends of Homeless Animals! Jane and John adopted her and now she comes to work and hangs out in the back offices every day!
Join us in helping other dogs just like Miya find their way home.
