As New Morning begins to plan for Earth Day 2012, the landscape is daunting. Every person who became part of the 17th Annual New Morning Earth Day Extravaganza, conspired, without exception, to make it the BEST ever. You know who you are!

Thanks to our guests: newbies and regulars, non-profit partners, farmers and naturopathic practitioners, INCREDIBLE food and beverages, local and national producers, gluten-free bakers and fabulous musicians, you made this year’s celebration exceptional and all of us at New Morning so grateful to work with such outstanding companies.

Exhibitor spaces filled up quickly this year. The variety of local and regional specialties was astounding, from giant fresh farmed Loch Duart salmon from Gulf Shrimp to crusty fresh Bantam Breads and gluten free specialties from Gilbert’s Gourmet Goodies. I hope you got to stop in at the Laurel Ridge barbecue and  the ever popluar Boxed Goodes table where Pamela Dunn wowed the crowds with her heirloom rice blend salads.

Thanks to our Conservation Partners: Audubon Center at the Bent of the River; Flanders Nature Center and Land Trust; Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and the Southbury Land Trust for coming out in support of New Morning’s Earth Day event.

This year, special thanks to The Renaissance Center of Woodbury, a vigorous drumming circle opened New Morning’s official Earth Day at 11:00. What a great crew. Maybe next, year, we can spring for a sound system so everybody can tune in. Early Birds, Bob Constanzo and Doug Echols of the now infamous Car Bob Show, WPKN, our favorite LIVE radio show were on the air at 9:00am and continued live, until 11:00am. Aside from the  fabulous hot sunny day, merry fair-goers and voracious foodies you could also pick up WPKN at home at 89.5 FM Bridgeport and WPKM-88.7 FM, Montauk. Don’t worry, we have it on good authority Bob and Doug will be back next year.

Back by very popular demand, Dr. Z (for Zampieron) Naturopathic physician, Medical Botanist, and Professor of Botanical Studies at the University of Bridgeport, took Earth Day participants for herb walk around & behind the New Morning grounds.

The beauty experts took people of all ages in hand from Dr. Hauschka; Gabriel Cosmetics, to Burt’s Bees.  Don’t miss that tent next year! Kudos to our very knowledgeable local practitioners, including Dr Gazsi, Dr. Jim Prado of Pomperaug Chiropractic and Alison Birks, New Morning’s nutritionist, and many others.

Many thanks to Doug Mahard for serenading the crowds from 1-3pm with inspirational songs and merriment

Don’t forget that all the delicious food you sampled at Earth Day 2011 will be on sale at New Morning throughout the month of May! So what better time than now to come in and pick up some of those outstanding products you tried on April 30th! We look forward to seeing you in the store and to help you with all your shopping needs!
